When the Inspiration Slows Down (and Why That’s Okay)

I’ve always loved Halloween, the magic, the nostalgia, the way it brings out that childlike excitement. Every year I usually go all out with my decor and costumes. It’s one of my favorite parts of fall, transforming my home into something straight out of a cozy, slightly spooky storybook.

But this year felt different.

I didn’t decorate as much as I usually do. My energy’s been slower, my body’s been asking for rest, and I’ve been trying to listen. Between joint pain and figuring out what’s been going on with my health, I just haven’t had it in me to do all the things the way I used to.

And for a while, I felt guilty about that, like I was letting the season slip away or not showing up the way I “should.” But the truth is, slowing down doesn’t take away the love I have for this season. It just looks a little different right now.

I’ve already taken down most of the fall decor inside my home, which feels strange but right. This year, I’m not rushing from one season to the next. My home is taking a little breather, a calm in-between before Christmas begins.

Meanwhile, my shop is getting ready for its Christmas Collection drop this Friday, October 17th at 7 PM. I can’t wait to share everything I’ve been working on, all the cozy, nostalgic pieces that make the season feel special. But in my own home, I’m letting things be still for just a little longer.

The cozy candles still get lit. The cider bar still makes me smile. There’s still that same spark of magic, it’s just softer, quieter, slower. And maybe that’s exactly what this season was meant to teach me.

If you’ve been feeling tired too, or like you’re not doing enough, I hope this reminds you that it’s okay to take a gentler pace. The seasons will keep coming, and so will your energy, your inspiration, your creativity.

Sometimes cozy isn’t about doing more.
It’s about letting yourself be.

This Apple cider bar was so much fun to create.

I did a Falloween Porch this year. Mostly fall with a touch of Halloween.
