An Intention for the New Year

Every January, the world gets loud.

New goals. New habits. New versions of ourselves we’re supposed to become overnight.

And every year, I feel that familiar tug to fix everything at once. To promise more discipline. More productivity. Less softness.

But this year, I’m choosing something different.

I’m choosing an intention, not a resolution.

Why I’m Letting Go of Resolutions

Resolutions have always felt a little harsh to me. Like a list of rules you’re expected to follow perfectly, or else you’ve failed.

They don’t leave much room for real life. For hard weeks. For grief. For exhaustion. For changing your mind.

And if there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that progress rarely looks clean or linear.

So instead of setting rigid goals, I’m setting a single intentionone that can bend, breathe, and grow with me.

My Intention This Year: To Move Gently Toward What Feels True

Not what looks impressive.
Not what performs well.
Not what other people expect.

But what actually feels true.

That means:

  • Choosing rest without guilt

  • Creating without rushing the outcome

  • Letting my home evolve slowly, season by season

  • Allowing my work to reflect where I really am, not where I think I should be

It means listening more closelyto my body, my creativity, my instinctsand trusting that they know the way.

What This Looks Like in Real Life

Some days, this intention will look like showing up fully.

Other days, it will look like doing the bare minimum and calling that enough.

It might mean saying no more often.
Or letting go of ideas that no longer fit.
Or choosing comfort over comparison.

And it definitely means giving myself permission to change my mind.

A Softer Start

The new year doesn’t have to be a dramatic reset.

It can be a quiet continuation.
A gentle turning of the page.
A deep breath before the next chapter.

You don’t need to become someone new to deserve a fresh start.

You’re allowed to arrive here exactly as you are.

An Invitation

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the noise of January, I hope this is your reminder that you can choose a softer way.

One intention.
One guiding feeling.
One small step at a time.

That’s enough.

And if you want to, I’d love to knowwhat intention are you carrying into this year?

Here’s to a year that feels like home.
